A daily drop of cannabis oil added to water cured one woman’s anxiety – and helped her enjoy restful sleep, she told Metro.co.uk.

Jessica Hamilton, 29 told Metro.co.uk, ‘I use it once per day. Just a very small drop, but it keeps me level and my anxiety has 80% gone.

She said, ‘I don’t think it will ever truly leave, as it is who I am, but I cannot express how different I am.’

The Home Secretary Sajid Javid announced this month that the NHS will offer prescriptions for CBD oil from November 1 for a small range of conditions.

‘Cannabidiol’ (CBD), is a chemical from cannabis which campaigners claim helps with diseases including cancer and Crohn’s disease.

Crucially, CBD products don’t contain any THC, the chemical in cannabis which causes the high – so it’s legal to use in the UK.

Hamilton said that she started using the medicine – available online – after she suffered anxiety about having to talk in front of her company in team meetings.

She told Metro.co.uk, ‘I suffered from extreme anxiety, while my work would occasionally ask me to talk in front of the rest of the company at team meetings. I hated it and would have panic attacks the night before, let alone on the day. Beyond this, I also really struggle sleeping at night.’

Hamilton said she had read about CBD oil in newspapers – several studies have suggested it’s an effective treatment for anxiety – but became convinced after watching videos on YouTube.

Hamilton said, ‘I added it to my water in the evening. I also had it in water before some meetings when I feel I need it.

‘It definitely worked on my anxiety, but not straight away. I found within 3-4 days I was much calmer, but it isn’t an ‘instant go-to’ if you have a meeting in five minutes, it’s more of a remaining-level feeling. I am so happy with it!!

‘I also do sleep a lot better at night. I don’t get anxious thoughts like I used to and I generally feel I fall asleep about 20 minutes quicker now.’

Hamilton says she thinks CBD oil should be more widely available.

Hamilton said, ‘What annoys me is (not sure about the laws) it isn’t more prevalent online or easy to find, they need more backing and support because it’s incredibly beneficial to me and plenty others.

‘If you suffer from anxiety or sleeping issues, I cannot recommend this more! It is certainly pricey, but I think with a product of this nature, you are buying quality and results, therefore I would never go for a cheaper form or one mixed with fillers or something like that.’
